Singer George Michael says he'd consider making Vancouver home |
|
Well done, George! We've missed you in the U.S., and as I've been telling all my friends for the last few months, Patience is fabulous and has the potential to do well here. IMHO, this is the first CD since Faith that has a good chance of doing well in the U.S. Of course, I love Songs from the Last Century, so what do I know?
In case you missed it, check out the following pages on Oprah.com:

If you have the Oxygen Network, watch "Oprah After the Show" to see George perform some of his hits!
Annette says that Patience is #29 on the Billboard 200 album chart in its first week of release in the U.S.
An article on E! also says:
"George Michael's Patience, which already went double platinum in the U.K. since its overseas release in March, debuted on the U.S. charts at 29 with 36,000 in sales. Thanks largely to his Wham! and Faith heyday, the singer has moved more than 67 million albums worldwide."
The official George Michael site now has a clip of the video for "Flawless," the next single in the U.K. The video will be premiered on "Top of the Pops" on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Tim sends us an article that says George has been asked to "perform at the opening of the Olympics in Athens which he is likely to do."
According to the Sony UK George Michael site, an exclusive "Full Intention Club Mix" of "Amazing" is available for download on www.bignoisemusic.com now.
According to Oprah.com, George will appear on Wednesday, May 26th for an interview and performance. (Thanks to Lahuli, Shannon, and Ruby!)
Some additional information on the interview is available at the Orlando Sentinel site.
Here are the newest reviews:
George told The Canadian Press: "Vancouver is one of the places I've told people I could move to. People are just so friendly there."
George Michael celebrated the release of Patience with an online chat with fans at 3:30 p.m. The transcript should be available at http://chat.msn.com/msnlive_feature.msnw?id=MSNLiveHome.

Since I'm probably never going to meet George, will someone say "hi" to him for me? I don't know if he'll know who Melanie from Yours Only George is, but hey, what have I got to lose?
Michael says there is a good review of Patience in the latest People magazine. 4 out of 4 stars.
Don't miss this article which says in part:
George is filming the video for "Flawless" in Los Angeles. |

The reviews are starting to come in for Patience:
Hey, look at the nifty banner ad Sony sent me. Of course, you all knew Patience was being released today in the USA!
The Billboard review of Patience is out, and I'm happy to say they made the correction I e-mailed them about. It originally said "Outside" was from Older!
Here's the latest:
David writes in to say that George Michael was on Sydney Australia radio station 2dayfm on Friday, and they brought up the accident. In George's words, he said that as of 99 % of rumors about him are true, this one was as well. He wrote off his car going around a roundabout slipping on oil. He was totally ok but the car took all of the impact and is a write-off.
The official site still has not confirmed or denied the accident.
Michael tells us the LA Times has an advertisement for Patience and the signing at Virgin Megastore.
Marjolein wrote in to say that according to the official George Michael site, the story about the car accident was a hoax. It appears George did have a smaller accident a couple of weeks ago, which went by unnoticed. Apparently someone decided to go to the press and in the process blew the story way out of proportion.
According to "George Michael has a narrow escape!," George Michael had a narrow escape when his BMW crashed into railings of the A40 in Acton. The article says, "George was very shaken, but somehow escaped unhurt."
Vlad tells us that Toronto's radio station 104.5 fm will air a one-hour interview with George this coming Sunday, May 16 at 8 p.m. You may be able to listed to the interview at www.chumfm.com.
Take a look at these great George Michael portraits by James Wilkinson. The painting of George appeared in two of James Wilkinson's exhibitions in London. George signed the canvas at a rehearsal at the Albert Hall.
