George Michael News from April-June 2001

June 30, 2001
Celebrity Profile

Obviously, this astrologer doesn't know anything about George Michael:

"George Michael is a Cancer with his moon in Leo, the sign of the entertainer. Being in the limelight is always a primary goal for Cancers with this chart. Mercury and Venus are both in changeable and outgoing Gemini, favorably aspecting his moon. Therefore, displaying plenty of outward energy is his main characteristic, as opposed to being the usual introspective Cancer. This allows Michael to be at home in the public eye."

Pandora

According to the article, "Pandora," George's neighbours also don't like his roof:

"While George Michael listens without prejudice to his neighbours' complaints about some 'tacky' home improvement plans at his extravagant home in Goring, Pandora's spies reveal that Mr Michael's other residence is far less sumptuous. Unlike the swimming pool, cocktail bar, and gym that the Thameside property boasts, in Hampstead the superstar has his very own corrugated iron roof. Whether it impresses his celebrity friends is unclear, but we're told it's 'very annoying' when it rains. The heart bleeds."

VH1 What to Watch

On Sunday, June 10
Behind The Music: 1987

It was the year 80's excess reached critical mass and rock n' roll led the party. In 1987, the stock market swelled, scandal reigned and pop music turned a blind eye. 1987 saw heavy metal go light ... and hip hop go white. In a sea of party rap and peroxide pop, music critics finally found their saviors. Then, black Monday signaled a sobering end to America's lost weekend. 1987 was a year that saw the rise of the Hair Bands, the comeback of The Grateful Dead and the marriage of music and politics exemplified by bands such as U2 and R.E.M. Also features interviews and or clips of George Michael's "Sex" video, Guns 'N Roses, Public Enemy, The Beastie Boys, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Poison and Whitesnake. (Premieres from 9 - 10 pm)

Media: New Media Diary

In "Media: New Media Diary," it says:

"How ironic that Radio 1's emerging DJ starlet Nemone - she currently follows Sara Cox in the mornings, in case you've never heard of her - should start a daily SMS competition called 'I Want Your Text'. The pun on "text" is astutely used to magnificent effect by the BBC, yet again (see last week's item on its planned show The Joy of Text), but Diary remembers a day in Radio 1's not-too-distant past when the word 'sex' was still taboo. The double irony is that even the George Michael song that clearly inspired Nemone to choose the competition name was outlawed by Radio 1 all those years ago. How times have changed."

Review of Scream If You Wanna Go Faster

In a review of Scream If You Wanna Go Faster, it says:

"If Rock Hudson's outing was the most tragic - on his deathbed, a victim of AIDS, and of the Hollywood image-machine, which used to keep homosexuals in the closet - George Michael's must rank as the most humiliating. He was inspired by the 'cottaging' incident in public lavatories in Los Angeles to write Outside, and the single - which featured a policeman - was a hit. But he played safe next time, with a best-of collection."

The Making of New Geri

Once again, George is mentioned in an article about Geri - "The Making of New Geri."

LA: down at heel in Beverly Hills

In "LA: down at heel in Beverly Hills," it says fitness guru Cheryl Anker organizes running tours around celebrity neighborhoods in Beverly Hills and Hollywood. So has George taken up running you might ask. The article reads:

We had arranged to meet by the corner of Beverly Drive and Sunset Boulevard, next to the lush Will Rogers Memorial Park. This, says Cheryl, was where George Michael was arrested for “lewd conduct” by an undercover cop in 1998. We jog past the small nondescript public lavatory, scene of the crime, before stopping at a plaque on a plinth to read an inscription.

“I never met a man I didn’t like,” it quotes Will Rogers, the humourist, as having said. “Can you you believe the irony of that?” asks Cheryl, springing onwards.

The Blonde Bombshell

In "The Blonde Bombshell," columnist Muriel Gray learned a lesson via George:

"She had learned a salutary lesson as a young columnist for the Mirror when she attacked singer George Michael. 'Just for a laugh because it had a good gag at the end.' The next week she was introduced to him in New York and they had dinner. 'I thought, what a nice man you are. Who the hell am I? A completely tiny untalented nobody making a stupid remark about a giant international talent. I'm so ashamed of that 25-year-old Muriel. I stopped doing it pretty quickly.'"

Planet Wild is looking for George Fans

Dear All

Planet Wild are currently producing a 50 minute documentary for Channel 4 in the UK on celebrity litigation. We are in the process of approaching George Michael for an interview with regards to his court battles.

To add some depth to the piece we are also looking for any ardent George fans who actually attended court during his appearances, and who would be willing to be interviewed for the programme.

Would it therefore be possible for anyone or (anyone you know) who would be suitable for the programme to drop me a line. Obviously we cannot guarantee anything but we would really like to hear from anyone who saw George in court - ideally someone who followed the trial(s).

We would be extremely grateful if you could help us out. If you would like to discuss the matter further, please do not hesitate to contact me on cwalker@planetwild.co.uk.

Many thanks
Chris Walker

George Michael not on Geri Halliwell album

According to Ananova's "George Michael not on Geri Halliwell album," George and Geri are not releasing a duet.

Also Anonymous writes:

Found on one of Geri's message boards (it could be a proof that "a duet" is just a rumour):

"Geri preps new album
U.K. star Geri Halliwell is jumping back into the pop world.

The ex-Spice Girl will release her second solo album, "Scream If You Wanna Go Faster", on May 15.

The album is Geri's follow-up to her first post-Spice project "Schizophonic" and includes her latest single, a remake of "It's Raining Men" which plays in the new movie "Bridget Jones' Diary".

Below is the complete tracklisting for "Faster":

Scream If You Wanna Go Faster
Shake Your Bootie Cutie
Calling
Feels Like Sex
Circles Round The Moon
Love Is The Only Light
Don't Call Me Baby
Strength Of A Woman
Lovey Duvey Stuff
It's Raining Men
It's Heaven And Hell To Be Geri Halliwell (bonus track)

From Canadian Site allpop and Muchmusic"

There is no mention of George, there is even no song called "Over The Moon".

Another proof that this could be just a rumour is that Geri in one of her recent interviews said that there will be a song titled "Calling" on her next album. But there is no mention about such song on this first tracklisting with alleged George Michael duet on it.
