Junk 'Jewels'
JUNK 'JEWELS': Disc of Aretha Franklin collaborations lacks sparkle
Much of that came under the guiding hand of Arista svengali Clive
Davis, whose '80s comeback project with Franklin was a model he'd follow
to great effect with artists such as Santana. Some of the Detroit star's
biggest successes of that era came with her collaborative songs, and all
are included here: top 40 hits such as "Jumpin' Jack Flash"
with Keith Richards, "Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves" with
the Eurythmics, the chart-topping "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)"
with a wispy-voiced George Michael.

Eli Stone Delayed?
Winners and losers as writers strike rolls on:
The premières of ABC's “Cashmere Mafia” and “Eli Stone” have been
postponed, and Fox opted to pull “24” off its upcoming schedule altogether
rather than risk starting a season it couldn't finish. And with only half
of “Lost” 's 16 new episodes shot, ABC could be in a pickle, too.

Geri Halliwell Loses Patience
Geri Halliwell Loses Patience:
The friendship has taken a severe blow over a song he was supposed
to be writing for the SPICE GIRLS.
Problems started when the Spices agreed to Geri’s request to ask George
— whose 2004 album Patience entered the charts at No1 — to pen their first
comeback single.
But he took too long over it, tempers frayed and the two Gs have fallen
out.

"Eli Stone" and the Strike
"Eli Stone" and the Strike
Not all scripted TV will go kaput in the new year because of that
darn writers’ strike. Some mid-season shows, like ABC’s “Eli Stone,” will
likely air without a hitch.
Spoiler Chat:
Kristy in Atlanta: I recently watched the pilot for Eli Stone,
and I think it has potential. A little weird at first, but then I loved
it. Plus, how can you go wrong with SpyDaddy?! Any info on when and where
we'll see this on the air?
It's an ABC show from Brothers & Sisters and Everwood boss Greg Berlanti
(whom you know we luuurve), and it will most likely premiere in February,
give or take. They even have 13 episodes already completed, so at least
there will be some new good stuff on TV!

Eli Stone Mid-season Replacement
Fox won't mess with good thing:
ABC has to be concerned about Thursday serialized skeins "Ugly
Betty" and "Grey's Anatomy," which do not repeat well.
Ditto Sunday, where "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will continue,
but the soapy "Desperate Housewives" and "Brothers &
Sisters" would wilt in repeats.
Net may want to air its new Oprah Winfrey realty show "Oprah's Big
Give" on Sunday at 9, behind "Home Edition." It could also
air it Thursdays at 8 in place of "Betty," and perhaps add
new drama "Eli Stone" to the night.

Eli Stone Mid-season Replacement
Strike Scrambles Production:
The network also has some
midseason series ready to go: "Eli Stone," about a lawyer who
finds religion, will have 13 episodes available.

Eli Stone Mid-season Replacement
Because of the writers' strike, will Eli Stone make it to television
early than planned?
What the Strike Means for the Different Networks
While episodes from mid-season series such as Notes From the Underbelly,
Cashmere Mafia and Eli Stone will be ready, the network will have to make
a decision on Lost.

Best 80s Dance Songs
Best 80s Dance Songs
"I Want Your Sex": George Michael stops pussyfooting around
and puts it all on the line. Banned from radio for its overt lyrics, this
1987 hit gets down to what dancing's all about: sex.
Problems with www.yogworld.com
Some of you may have experienced massive outages with Yours Only George
in the last week — I certainly did. Others may
have been able to visit the site without problems. I'm not sure what the
issue was so I hope the site doesn't go down again.

The Goss-Michael Foundation Presents 'Damien Hirst':
The Goss-Michael Foundation is pleased to announce an exhibition of
work from the private collection of Kenny Goss and George Michael featuring
work by world-renowned British artist, Damien Hirst. The exhibition will
be on display from October 25, 2007 through April 30, 2008.
Art review: Works by Damien Hirst at Goss-Michael:
Mr. Hirst then honed the superlative by outdoing himself with the
Aug. 30 sale of For the Love of God, a cast of a human skull encrusted
with 8,601 diamonds, for $100 million to an undisclosed investment group.
(Silk-screened images of For the Love of God, speckled with diamond dust,
can be seen at "Damien Hirst," now showing at the Goss-Michael
Foundation.)
