I’m guessing that all you George Michael fans are going to want to comment on “Losing faith in Seattle,” which says:
I’ll be honest, George. I like a lot of your music. I liked it in the ’80s, and I like the way it reminds me of my college years now. But this gimmick you have of covering up your weakened voice by pointing the mike at us to sing whenever you come to a high note is getting really, really annoying. I didn’t pay for these tickets and drive downtown to hear myself sing. And if you could hear my voice, you would be in agreement with me. Or maybe not. Because it seems like with every passing year, fans are expected to carry more of the burden. Whether it’s singing your chorus or paying for the arenas so the owners can boost their profits, we’re constantly expected to do more and more. And frankly, I’m getting pretty tired of it.

They lost their NBA team, so I’ll let it pass. You can tell the guy is heartbroken over it. One thing I did agree with him on is George getting the crowd to sing the high notes. I wish he would stop doing that. With the advancements in music technology I don’t think it should be a problem for him. Not that I am advocating him to lip-sync but maybe have playback to sing to on those specific high notes.
Weak voice? My g-d he sounded incredible…someone needs to get their hearing checked.
if you could sing as well as george than you wouldent have the time to write this.. he is one of the best of the world
I agree. Perhaps if he’d lay off the weed he wouldn’t be damaging his voice.
If you are tired of George pointing the mike to the audience, then just stop buying tickets to his concerts. This is his first US tour in 17 years, and we should be happy he did it. His voice is amazing, and naturally as people age their voice weakens. Please do not critize him; it’s your own fault for buying the expensive tickets.
This dude is bitter, that’s for sure. Being a fellow Seattle-ite, I feel the same way about the Sonics leaving, that the fans are the ones who lose out in the end. However, I won’t miss the traffic around the arena! And really, come on, George Michael has nothing to do with this situation. Leave the guy alone! I was at the same show, and while the crowd was a little on the small side, George got everyone pumped up. The energy was high and the show was awesome! I was amazed at how great George’s voice sounded! I thought he was great that he engaged the audience and got everyone to sing along. I thought it was fun and it helps the crowd feel more connected. He hit a ton of high notes and he played a two hour set, which is a feat for any performer!
😎 Well the supersonics are gone and they are left with sleepless in (you guessed it) Seattle. George was great. Don’t take it seariusly.
hahaha the paper is showing some of the responses to the review. George Michael is getting rave reviews everywhere, he is a god overseas! Read about grunge in Rock History books! The usually skip the Superstars like Queen and Abba and sadly George Michael.
Great summer, Mamma Mia! and a George Michael tour, its a brilliant show!!! Coming august I will see it for the third time. Can’t wait!!!
I saw George in Dallas this past weekend. Flew from my home in Denver just for his show. He sounded wonderful to me. And…if his voice is having a hard time with the high notes…I don’t really care. He still sang live better then most….he danced like a mad man….had a wonderful stage….and I love when the crowd sings along. the sound of thousands and thousands of people singing as good or as bad as they want to my favorite songs…is lovely if you ask me. It’s exciting….and I don’t care what the reason is George points the mike to the crowd. I have waited my whole life to see him live…and was happy to sing along weather he wanted me to or not:)
Awww- come on! 🙄 I can’t believe people are complaining about George getting the audience to sing! 😡 The one thing that has really got to me reading peoples comments on forums etc about his tour, are the complaints about such trivial things. There are tens of 1000’s of people who love George From New Zealand & Australia who have not been able to see him in concert because he hasn’t toured there. Be grateful that such an incredible talent has given you all amazing shows you can go to. There are a lot of very sad people who have missed out- I for one of them! 🙁
just saw George in concert in Minneapolis, only time I really remember the mike pointing to get the audience to sing along was during Careless Whisper, but people say he fogerts the lyrics to that a lot anyways…lol It was fun, and he did a great job, and not once did I ever hear his voice get weak, his voice was strong & powerful. That reviewer must not have been an honest-to-goodness fan anyways.
🙂
