George Michael Is Not Retiring

George Michael is not retiring, according to a representative.

As reported previously, George Michael’s site currently has a closed red curtain, with a note about exciting news in 2014.  This graphic caused a stir because some thought he was retiring.

A representative for George Michael told NME, “I do not understand where people are getting any of this from. Our team that deal with the website and fan club were just being creative when they blackened out the website and added a curtain. This is only to give space and time to make some really exciting news for 2014.”

“George Michael is in great shape and next year promises to be a lovely year musically for George, and all of his fans!”

Contact Music is also reporting that a representative said, “The curtains will reopen next year.”

George Michael News in 2014

The official George Michael site boasts “Exciting News Coming in 2014” and nothing else. Apparently, all other files have been deleted from the site.

Some media outlets are reporting that the only graphic on the page, a closed red curtain, alludes to George Michael’s retirement. However, I like to look at it as a closed curtain that is about to reopen with a new stage, new features, new songs, and new videos. Here’s hoping that I’m correct in this line of thinking.

New Book by Jazz Summers, Former Wham! Manager

Amazon Ad

Jazz Summers, a former Wham! manager along with Simon Napier Bell, has a new book entitled Big Life (Amazon Ad).

The Daily Mail has an excerpt of the book, which details how Summers made the “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” video shoot look bigger than it was and how George Michael usually only responded to the name “Yog” when drunk.

Jazz Summers isn’t the first to write about his experience managing Wham!  Simon Napier Bell wrote I’m Coming To Take You To Lunch: A fantastic tale of boys, booze and how Wham! were sold to China (Amazon Ad) in 2006.

First Photo of George Michael Since Accident on M1

Amazon Ad

The Mirror has a photo of George Michael, the first photo of George since he fell out of the back seat of his Range Rover on the M1 in May 2013.

The picture shows a scar on the back of his head.  The article also mentions a scar on his left elbow. The photo was taken as George stepped out of a vehicle outside his home in Highgate, north London, on Thursday.

The official George Michael site says:

George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident yesterday evening, no third party was involved.  He is being treated for superficial cuts and bruises but is fine.  We have no further comment at this time.
